About Me
My name is Antoine Jeanselme. I'm an engineer and game developer based in Paris. I build full-stack products, engineer reliable backends, and develop games for fun!
Outside of work, I like chess, playing tennis, and going to the gym.
First Steps
My love for building things on my computer started when I was 14. I was playing Minecraft and wanted to create my own server, so I learned how to set up a Linux server, how to use SSH, and how to install and configure a Minecraft server.
I was hooked, and I started learning more about game development, web development, and backend engineering through online courses, tutorials, and by building my own projects.
This new passion led me to build a large community through my project ShadowAxe, with 30 000+ registered unique players.
Through this project I made lifelong friendships, learned how to run a company, made money, and most importantly found what I wanted to do with my life: build things that people love and that have a positive impact on their lives.
This led me to pursue a Master's degree in Game Development, where I had the opportunity to work on a variety of projects, from small prototypes to large productions, and to learn from experienced professionals in the industry.
Work Experience
At the end of my studies, I had the opportunity to work at Parallel Studio, an indie game development studio in Paris, where I worked on the game Under The Waves. I was responsible for engineering the entire CI/CD pipeline, handling all the DevOps and backend infrastructure, and contributing to the development of the game itself.
The game was released in 2023 and has been a commercial success with over 2M unique players.
This experience allowed me to work in a professional environment, to collaborate with experienced developers, and to learn how to ship a product that millions of people enjoy.
After 2 years at Parallel, I wanted to get back to my roots and started working fulltime on ShadowAxe to apply my new skills and knowledge to my own project.
I continued to grow the community, improve the game with weekly updates, and learn more about running a company by recruiting 2 interns.
2 years later, it is time to move on and look for new opportunities to learn and grow as a builder.
Tech Stack
My go-to tech stack for backend development is Node.js with TypeScript, using Fastify or Nest.js as the web framework and PostgreSQL as the database. I also have experience with Go and Kotlin for backend development.
When building full-stack applications, I like to use React with Next.js. For this website I used Astro and Sass.
For game development, I primarily use Unreal Engine with C++, but I also have experience with Unity and C#.
I am always eager to learn new technologies and tools, and I am not afraid to step out of my comfort zone to do so.
